New 2014 Chevrolet Impala Starts from $28,445* in Canada

The new rear-wheel drive SS sports sedan won't be heading to Canada, but another new Chevrolet sedan will, which is only natural since the 2014 Impala is built at GM's Oshawa, Ontario factory as well as at the Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan, assembly plant.

The new generation of the Impala will reach Canadian dealerships this spring with a starting price of $28,445, which GM says is "just $145 more than the 2013 Impala it replaces", but conveniently forgets to mention in the same sentence that whereas the base version of the 2014 model features a 195hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, the outgoing 2013 model is fitted with a 300-horsepower 3.6-liter V6.

If you want a V6, the 305hp version of the 2014 Impala has an MSRP of $32,945 for the LT and $39,645 for the better equipped LTZ. Besides the base $28,445 LS, other trim grades available for the 2.5-liter engine are the $31,445 LT and $36,445 LTZ. Destination charge on all models is $1,550 (*). GM said pricing for the third engine option, the 2.4-liter gasoline unit with eAssist, will be announced at a later date.

In the U.S., the 2.5L Impala LS starts from $27,535 and the 3.6L LT from $30,760, with both prices including destination charges.

Bugatti Launches One-Off Grand Sport Vitesse “Gris Rafale” at Sao Paulo Show

Displaying an existing car in a new color at an international auto show is not something worth mentioning. The Bugatti Veyron, however, is as far as removed from 99.9 percent of the cars sold on the planet that it can afford to do so and still make headlines.

Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse Rafale
Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse Rafale

Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse Rafale

With the 1,182HP (1200PS) Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport being now the sole model in Bugatti’s range, the VW Group’s most exclusive brand is keen on launching one-off versions to keep interest going – and in the process, make a nifty profit.

Bugatti has announced that it will bring the model in Brazil (so form an orderly queue, please) and the one-off Grand Sport Vitesse “Gris Rafale” that was launched at the Sao Paulo auto show was the perfect way to celebrate the occasion.

The new version is named after its grey paint and sports blue accents on the A-pillars, the roof arches, the rollover hoops that incorporate the engine’s air intakes and the air brake.

In the interior, the “Gris Rafale” features “lake blue” leather and contrasting light grey stitching.

If you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it anyway, but for the record, the “Gris Rafale” goes for €1.9 million (US$2.5 million), or €210,000 (US$280,000) more than the “regular” Veyron Grand Vitesse.

Which, you'll be glad to know, is exactly the asking price for the previous one-off Veyron, the white and baby blue car that we saw last month in Paris.

"We received very positive feedback after the all-new Forte sedan made its debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, and we expect the all-new Kia Forte 5-door will build upon that success," said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing & communications, KMA. "The combination of a useful hatchback for carrying cargo and the sportiness of the turbocharged SX trim make the all-new Forte 5-door a dual threat in the segment."

Presented in two trim levels, EX and SX, with two distinct engine choices, the Kia Forte 5-door will offer customers Kia's long list of premium amenities and features not normally found in the compact segment. Under the hood, the Forte 5-door packs a punch, with the EX's 2.0-liter GDI four-cylinder engine putting out a healthy 173 horsepower and 154 lb.-ft. of torque through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The performance-oriented SX comes standard with the hard-charging 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder, a first for the Forte line. The SX also offers buyers the chance to pick their own gears with a standard 6-speed manual transmission, or they may opt for the 6-speed automatic featuring steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Standard Features and Technology Take Value to New Levels of Sophistication

Carrying on Kia's reputation of offering tremendous value, the all-new Kia Forte 5-door offers buyers an impressive allotment of technology and safety features. The base EX comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, UVO eServices with rear camera display, Bluetooth® wireless technology, SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio and cruise control buttons, FlexSteer™, tilt and telescoping steering column, power windows, and LED positioning headlights with fog lights.

The SX trim ups the ante with standard 18-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips, and LED tail lights. Kia Forte 5-door SX also offers an aggressive front fascia with larger bumper and grille openings, black gloss grille inserts, larger front brakes, alloy sport pedals, front and rear seats with carbon fiber-style accents. The lower front fascia and rear valance also feature carbon fiber-look trim pieces.

Additionally, both EX and SX trim levels offer optional HID headlights, navigation system with HD Radio™, sunroof, heated steering wheel,10-way adjustable power driver's seat, heated front seats and cooled driver's seat, heated rear outboard seats, leather seating surfaces, SmartKey with push-button start, electric chromatic rearview mirror and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Stunning European Design Language

Born from the Kia design studio in Seoul and overseen by Kia's global chief of design, Peter Schreyer, the Kia Forte 5-door's sophisticated hatchback profile, large wheels and aggressive posture give it a distinctly European appearance that speaks to its performance intentions. The chiseled body commands attention and continues Kia's tradition as a design leader in the industry.

Like its Forte sedan counterpart, the Kia Forte 5-door's swept headlights stretch deep into the front fenders and the raked windshield and broad shoulders give the front end a sleek, sporty appearance. LED positioning lights add a premium look to the front fascia. Moving around the vehicle, the large 18-inch wheels fill the wheel wells on the SX, and the hatchback profile affords a performance-oriented European personality. Around back, the rear hatch glass opens to reveal 23.2 cubic feet of usable cargo space. LED tail lights complete the premium feel of the exterior and a sporty rear valance with twin chrome exhaust tips maintains the Kia Forte 5-door's edgy demeanor.

Sporty Cabin with Premium Features

Inside, the Kia Forte 5-door features premium materials and soft touch points. Large, easy-to-read white-on-black gauges nestle deeply into the instrument cluster. Chrome accents around the HVAC controls and optional push-button start, along with carbon fiber-like textures on the dash and seats, add a sporty touch. A grippy leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob are further evidence of the Forte 5-door's performance aspirations. Class-exclusive available features such as front and rear heated outboard seats, an air-cooled driver's seat and driver-selectable electric steering further set the Kia Forte 5-door apart from its competition.

Thrilling Driving Experience

The Kia Forte 5-door SX is the most powerful Forte built by Kia to date, utilizing a 1.6-liter GDI turbocharged four-cylinder that help improve performance. Power is seamlessly transferred to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The GDI powerplant produces 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,750-4,500 rpm. The advanced powertrain features double overhead cams with dual continuously variable valve timing to help improve efficiency and performance.

The Kia Forte 5-door EX comes standard with a 2.0-liter GDI powerplant producing 173 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 154 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm. During durability testing, the engines are run 300 continuous hours at redline under full load then for an additional 20 hours at 10 percent above redline under full load.

To help further improve performance, the Kia Forte 5-door features a sport-tuned suspension with a McPherson strut setup in front and a multilink rear design. The Kia Forte 5-door rides on standard 205/55R-16 tires while 225/40R-18 tires are included with the SX trim for an even more sporting driving experience.

Thanks to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission, the 0-100 km/h acceleration is possible in 3,9 seconds while the top speed is limited at 250 km/h.

You can get rid of the speed limiter at extra price, situation where the top speed increases to 305 km/h.

Thanks to a new cylinder deactivation system, the new Audi RS7 Sportback returns a decent fuel consumption of 24mpg US or 9,8 liters/100km.

A high-performance brake system with 420mm carbon fiber ceramic discs keeps the model safe while a retuned air suspension with adaptive damping lowers the ground clearance by 20mm.

While the exterior receives new front and rear bumpers, a revised front grille, large 20-inch alloy wheels and carbon fiber parts, interior features include new sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel and new door sills.

Power comes from a modified version of Nissan's acclaimed 1.6-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine. You only need to look to the success of the pioneering Nissan DeltaWing to see the potential of this advanced and efficient engine...

Add a bespoke aerodynamics package and revised chassis design and you have a driving experience which takes Juke thrills to the next level. Two models - front-wheel-drive with a six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive with CVT and 7-speed manual mode - are available, with every Nissan Juke Nismo benefitting from a motorsport-inspired interior packed with innovative technology.

Andy Palmer, Nissan's Executive Vice President, Global Product Planning, commented: "Nismo is about providing innovation and excitement for everyone, and there's no better place to start than with the Juke, our critically acclaimed and highly successful compact crossover. Oozing an attitude that has really struck a chord with buyers across Europe, it was the obvious choice for the Nismo team to showcase its design, engineering and personalisation expertise."

After initially appearing as a concept at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan Juke Nismo made its global debut in production form at the Le Mans 24-Hour Race in June 2012. It was seen again at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September and is on sale now.

The Nissan Juke Nismo is the product of global expertise. Its design and engineering was led by Nissan and Nismo in Japan in partnership with Nissan Design Europe (NDE) in London, UK, and Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTCE), in Cranfield, UK. Like other Juke models, the Juke Nismo will be built at Nissan's UK manufacturing facility in Sunderland.

Nissan Connect with enhanced functionality

The Nissan Juke Nismo is among the first Nissans to feature an enhanced version of the Nissan Connect infotainment system. Already an enormously successful system, Connect continues to offer an exceptional package of navigation and connectivity in one standard fit, integrated package.

Benefitting from a larger 5.8-inch touch-screen display, the latest system includes Google 'Send to Car' navigation software allowing routes planned at home to be transferred directly to the car. Additional connected services include Google Points of Interest (POI), nearest fuel prices, plus flight and weather information. Enhanced satellite navigation functionality also includes exit view and lane guidance, in addition to the full Bluetooth connectivity and reversing camera systems that Connect users have come to rely on.

NDCS Nissan Dynamic Control System (NDCS)

The Nissan Juke Nismo offers further control through Nissan Dynamic Control System (NDCS). This advanced central command system allows the driver to alter the car's dynamic settings as well as make changes to everyday functions including climate control.

The centrally mounted digital screen changes display, colour and functions depending on the mode selected by the driver. Settings alter throttle maps, steering effort and CVT shift schedules on the 4WD Nissan Juke Nismo.

In the D-Mode Sport setting, the throttle map is retuned to deliver higher engine revs and sharper responses, while in the Eco setting, engine revs are reduced for more gentle progress. In the M-CVT version of the DIG-T engine Juke, the Sport setting even introduces a 'rhythmic' auto up shift that simulates manual changes at the red-line.

Steering effort in Sport is firmer and more responsive, while in Normal it's lighter and more linear. In the Eco setting, the quantity of cold air circulating in the cabin is optimised, reducing the load on the climate control and lowering the system's power consumption.

Real time trip information can also be displayed giving average speed, fuel economy, journey times and engine torque and turbo boost as well as a daily fuel consumption history. The system even incorporates a G-Force indicator.

Inspired by fixed-gear bicycles, GEAR is a concept that represents an entirely new way of looking at the sub-compact vehicle. It is simple and utilitarian, but also customizable, connected and full of personality.

"Subcompact cars are usually either utilitarian, but uninspiring or they're fun, zippy cars that are impractical and too expensive for the Gen-Y buyer," said Dave Marek, Design Director at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. "Honda GEAR Concept tears down those walls - it's practical but fun, customizable, connected and affordable. Everything that young, discerning urban buyers would want in a car."
